In our life's changelog, today's entry reads: "Added: 7 years connecting talent".
The short version: we started in 2018 with just 5 people and 1 client, but with a clear north star: connect the best talent from LATAM with U.S. companies, creating growth opportunities and long-term relationships for both sides.
Retelling our origin story feels like those Marvel movies where every new director explains how the character came to be. But if the Robert Pattinson Batman taught us anything, it's that people already know where they came from. This time we'll tell a different story and drop a small spoiler about where we're headed.
From developer-first to talent-first
Howdy was born with the idea of connecting software developers with tech-based companies in the United States. That model, backed by strong sector growth, helped Howdy scale rapidly, reaching a $105M valuation in 2022.
In 2024, without losing our focus on developers, we expanded to connect other types of talent with U.S. companies: finance, HR, marketing, operations, sales, and more. That decision, combined with Howdy's steady growth and distinctive business model, took the company from a team of 5 to one of 366 in just 7 years.
AI as the new standard in tech profiles
In Latin America, where tech talent has become one of the main drivers of service exports, this trend hits hard: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia account for over 70% of regional hiring, and more North American companies are looking for developers who not only master frameworks and languages, but also know how to apply AI to optimize code, automate tasks, or improve products. For professionals in the region, adding AI to your stack isn't just an upgrade: it's the key to staying relevant and competitive in an accelerating global market.
That's why we launched an AI course program for the tech talent that works with us, preparing them to put all the tools these new technologies offer to work for the partners they collaborate with.
The future hasn't deployed yet
In the end, Howdy's story isn't measured in years or growth metrics alone, but in every person who found an opportunity to expand their career, in every partner who trusted the region's talent, and in how the community has grown stronger through that connection. Seven years on, we're still celebrating not just what we built, but what drives us: creating growth opportunities for U.S. companies and LATAM talent alike, with collaboration as the fuel. And the most exciting part? The best is still compiling.
