Analytics Engineer

Full-Time
Fully_Remote
Colombia, Mexico

Summary of the Role

We are looking for an Analytics Engineer to migrate a portfolio of legacy Power BI, Grafana, and SQL Server reports onto governed dbt models and an Omni semantic layer over Snowflake — proving that every migrated number matches the legacy report. This is an end-to-end builder role that sits right between engineer and analyst: you will own the entire lifecycle, from intake with U.S. stakeholders to dbt/SQL modeling, governed metrics in Omni, aggregate and row-level data reconciliation, and platform adoption. The role does not build raw ingestion pipelines, manage warehouse infrastructure, or act as an ad-hoc helpdesk.

Desired Skills

  • Full-Time availability
  • Advanced English (C1) or above — fluent enough to lead live working sessions with US teams and explain technical trade-offs clearly
  • 4+ years of analytics engineering experience owning production dashboards, semantic layers, and the underlying transformation models
  • Advanced SQL in Snowflake (CTEs, window functions, JSON/semi-structured parsing, query tuning), alongside T-SQL stored procedure analysis
  • Hands-on experience building, testing, documenting, and deploying dbt models across multi-environment Git workflows (Azure DevOps/GitHub)
  • Experience building semantic models, metrics catalogs, and governed topics in platforms like Omni, Looker (LookML), Sigma, Lightdash, or Power BI shared datasets
  • Proven habit of auditing and reconciling reports against legacy source systems, with documented reconciliation evidence

Responsibilities

  • Semantic layer & dashboards: design, build, and maintain Omni dashboards, workbooks, topics, views, and governed metrics serving executives, Finance, Operations, and Client Success
  • Legacy system migration: trace embedded SQL in legacy Power BI, Grafana, and SQL Server (T-SQL) reports, translating stored procedures and institutional logic into clean Snowflake views and dbt models
  • Governed dbt modeling: build, test, and document dbt transformation models deployed through dev, QA, and production via Git and Azure DevOps pull requests
  • Parity validation: establish acceptance criteria with stakeholders, reconcile legacy vs. new numbers at both aggregate and row level, document results in validation templates, and secure sign-off before release
  • Stakeholder intake: lead discovery sessions directly with US business leads, turn ambiguous asks into clear technical specifications, and push back constructively when requests duplicate existing metrics

Nice-to-Haves

  • Direct experience with Omni or Looker (LookML)
  • Background in Healthcare, Revenue Cycle, or HIPAA-regulated environments
  • dbt Analytics Engineering Certification or SnowPro (Core/Advanced) certification
  • Experience using Python for automated data comparison or BI API scripting

Who You Are

  • You take end-to-end ownership, driving projects from initial intake through documented validation without needing constant supervision
  • You push back constructively, protecting governed metric definitions against duplication or conflicting logic
  • You're a clear business translator who explains complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders in clear, business-focused terms

Some benefits:

  • 🏢 Offices in some cities
  • 🖥️ 100% remote work
  • ⌚ Full-time schedule, flexible according to objectives
  • 🏖️ PTO & holidays
  • ⚕️ Medical insurance
