Business Analyst

Full-Time
Fully_Remote
Colombia, Mexico

Summary of the Role

We are looking for a Senior Business / Data Analyst to own claims, payments and arbitration data from source to dashboard across Snowflake, SQL Server and Power BI in a healthcare environment. This is not a report-request queue: you will translate ambiguous business questions into precise technical specifications, build robust dimensional data models, find and permanently fix data quality issues at the source, and replace manual work with automated Python and dbt pipelines.

Desired Skills

  • Full-Time availability
  • Advanced English (C1) or above, with exceptional writing skills to author precise data definitions, release notes and documentation for business and executive stakeholders
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in a data analyst, business analyst or analytics engineering role working directly with production datasets
  • Expert SQL: data grain, complex joins, execution plan analysis, index optimization, window functions and SQL edge cases (e.g., NULL behavior in NOT IN predicates)
  • Hands-on production experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake strongly preferred) alongside enterprise relational databases (SQL Server)
  • Dimensional modeling experience (facts, dimensions, slowly changing dimensions, staging layers) and dbt for transformations, testing and documentation
  • Advanced Power BI and DAX: robust data models, complex measures and clean dashboards that operational teams rely on daily
  • Practical Python for automation (pandas, API integration, scheduled scripts) to eliminate manual processes and run automated reconciliation checks
  • The judgment to push back on ambiguous requests, uncover the real business problem and propose sound technical alternatives

Responsibilities

  • Author and optimize complex SQL across Snowflake and SQL Server using multi-step CTEs, window functions, effective-dated joins, deduplication and financial reconciliation logic
  • Architect, build and maintain production data models (staging, core, dimensions, facts) that power Power BI semantic models and customer-facing data shares
  • Profile incoming data feeds to diagnose discrepancies (fan-out, duplicates, late or reversed transactions) and work with engineering and operations to fix errors upstream instead of patching dashboards
  • Build automated pipelines for recurring extracts, data validation checks and alerting using Python, dbt and CI/CD orchestration tools
  • Turn stakeholder requests into written data definitions, acceptance criteria and test cases before development, following standard SDLC practices (Git, pull requests, code review)
  • Use AI coding assistants (Claude, ChatGPT) responsibly to speed up SQL development, scripting and documentation, verifying every output against the underlying data

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM) data: 837 claims, 835 remittances, CPT codes, payer fee schedules and NPI registries
  • Experience with independent dispute resolution (IDR) / arbitration datasets
  • Experience delivering data to external customers through Snowflake Data Sharing
  • Hands-on production modeling with dbt, including automated schema and unit tests
  • Experience with PostgreSQL application databases
  • CI/CD and orchestration tools such as Azure DevOps pipelines or Airflow

Who You Are

  • You are a constructive challenger: you push back on ambiguous requirements and refine the question before writing a single query
  • You are a root-cause detective who hunts data issues down to their origin instead of applying cosmetic fixes
  • You are a bridge builder who explains numbers and reconciliations clearly to engineering, operations and executive leadership

Some benefits:

  • 🏢 Offices in some cities
  • 🖥️ 100% remote work
  • ⌚ Full-time schedule, flexible according to objectives
  • 🏖️ PTO & holidays
  • ⚕️ Medical insurance
