Backend Python Developer

Full-Time
Fully_Remote
Colombia, Mexico

Summary of the Role

We are looking for a Python Platform Engineer to build and maintain the backend services behind our cloud-native, highly distributed platform. You will be strong in API design, integrations, and scalable services, bring solid testing and observability discipline, and own your work end to end, from ticket definition to deployment and production.

Desired Skills

  • Full-Time availability
  • English B2 or above
  • 4+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong hands-on Python (the team's primary language)
  • Strong API design, integration, and scalable-service skills in a cloud-native, distributed environment
  • Testing discipline: unit and integration tests, following the testing pyramid
  • Comfortable with production debugging, on-call responsibilities, and monitoring tools
  • Strong debugging skills, with a track record of fixing root causes rather than shipping temporary fixes
  • Security-conscious: working knowledge of the OWASP Top 10

Responsibilities

  • Own your tickets end to end, from definition to deployment
  • Design APIs and integrations for a cloud-native, highly distributed platform
  • Write unit and integration tests, leaving code more tested than you found it
  • Debug production issues, take part in on-call, and keep services observable
  • Understand existing systems before proposing changes: validate instead of assuming
  • Deliver incrementally through small PRs, shipping early and often

Nice-to-Haves

  • Technical leadership: making architecture decisions with minimal guidance and writing high-quality RFCs that influence technical direction
  • Mentoring engineers, raising the quality bar on code reviews, and helping codify engineering best practices
  • Driving alignment across teams
  • Experience on platform teams focused on foundational capabilities, paying down technical debt, and improving engineering velocity
  • Exposure to Java and/or Golang
  • Daily use of AI tools in your engineering workflow, thinking critically about AI-generated code and its cost and optimization tradeoffs
  • Advanced AI usage beyond coding assistance: building team-wide AI workflows, improving AI agent guardrails, and experimenting with multi-agent orchestration

Who You Are

  • A proactive communicator: you update the team without being asked, flag blockers early, and work well async in writing
  • A context-seeker: you read the docs and tickets first, and ask questions instead of making assumptions
  • Open to feedback: you act on PR comments and peer feedback without defensiveness
  • A humble owner: you take responsibility for your area end to end, including production issues and quality
  • You enjoy solving technical problems, not just closing tickets, and adapt well when priorities change.

Some benefits:

  • 🏢 Offices in some cities
  • 🖥️ 100% remote work
  • ⌚ Full-time schedule, flexible according to objectives
  • 🏖️PTO & holidays
  • ⚕️Medical insurance
