Role Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale a workflow-native AI platform focused on healthcare operations. This role is centered around backend architecture, workflow orchestration, integrations, and scalable platform systems that support reliable and secure execution across complex environments. You will play a key role in designing durable systems, improving platform reliability, and enabling product and AI teams to move faster without sacrificing quality or operational stability.
Desired Skills:
- B2 and above English level
- +7 years of backend engineering experience building and operating production systems
- + 5 years of profesional experience with .NET/C#.
- Strong experience with service design, APIs, data modeling, and distributed systems fundamentals
- Deep SQL and database design experience, including schema design, indexing strategies, query optimization, and migration patterns
- Strong understanding of transactions, isolation levels, and consistency tradeoffs in distributed systems
- Proven track record delivering reliable and scalable systems with pragmatic engineering decisions
- Strong understanding of reliability patterns such as retries, backpressure, timeouts, and failure isolation
- Experience building and maintaining scalable production-grade backend systems
Plus Experience:
- Experience with workflow engines, orchestration frameworks, state machines, or event-driven architectures
- Experience working in healthcare, compliance-driven environments, or systems handling sensitive data
- Experience with Postgres and/or SQL Server at scale
- Familiarity with multi-tenant architectures and data retention strategies
- Experience handling semi-structured data such as JSON/JSONB
- Experience with event sourcing or append-only log architectures and materialized views
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement backend services that support workflow orchestration and stateful execution (task lifecycles, handoffs, retries, idempotency).
- Build scalable API surfaces and integration patterns to connect workflows with internal systems and external partners.
- Implement platform-level governance and safety boundaries: policy checks, validation gates, and controlled execution paths for high-impact actions.
- Own data models for workflow execution, including: workflow state and transitions; durable artifacts and provenance; idempotency keys and deduplication; append-first audit/event logs and queryable operational views
- Own schema migration discipline and backwards-compatible changes.
- Build strong observability and operational tooling: structured logs, metrics, traces, and run-level metadata for debugging and performance analysis.
- Establish and maintain a high bar for SDLC and reliability: testing strategy, quality gates, incident hygiene, and predictable delivery.
- Partner with AI engineering to support schema validation, run traceability, and evaluation hooks—without coupling core systems to any single model/provider
