We joined Nerdearla Chile as Sponsor: Our key takeaways

Howdy took part as Sponsor at Nerdearla Chile. We hosted a technical talk led by one of our Engineering Mentors, ran a virtual booth, and engaged with the community while learning key insights on AI. The experience reinforced the value of connecting with engineers and fostering real conversations within the tech ecosystem.

On April 16–18, Howdy showed up in Chile as a Bronze sponsor at Nerdearla, one of the most important tech events in the Latin American ecosystem.

Three days centered on what actually matters: knowledge, people, and the kind of conversations that stick with you.

  1. Nerdearla: where the tech community actually connects
  2. Nerdearla isn’t just another conference—it’s where developers, engineers, and tech professionals come together around a shared mindset: keep learning, exchange ideas, and build real community.

That’s exactly the space where Howdy plugged in across multiple touchpoints: brand presence on the main stage, a technical talk from one of our Engineering Mentors, a virtual booth where attendees could get to know us and explore open opportunities, and Amazon gift cards giveaway that sparked genuine engagement throughout the event.

  3. "La poesía de los binarios estáticos": when engineering speaks for the brand
  4. On April 16th, Ignacio Codina, Engineering Mentor at Howdy, delivered a technical talk titled “La poesía de los binarios estáticos”. It was live-streamed and drew 55 real-time viewers.

The session created a thoughtful, technical deep dive into how the Go ecosystem enabled us to replace a hosted backend with a self-hosted setup—clean, maintainable, and completely free.

It clearly resonated. Engagement was strong both during and after the talk, and now that it’s up on Nerdearla’s YouTube channel, it keeps gaining views. The kind of impact that doesn’t end when the event does.

  5. Howdy’s voice beyond the booth
  6. Another highlight was Nerdearla’s interview with Victoria Niro, Engineering Manager at Howdy. The clip was shared across the event’s social channels and has already reached thousands of views.

In that conversation, Victoria broke down what Howdy is, how we work, and what we look for in people joining the team. No script, no corporate polish—just a real perspective from inside the company.

That kind of organic, community-driven content goes a long way. It strengthens our connection with the tech community in a way that feels honest and transparent.

  7. Our takeaways from the talks
  8. On April 17th and 18th, the technical sessions brought some takeaways. One that stood out came from Rafael Mattje de Carvalho, Head of Tech at AWS for LATAM.

His perspective on productivity in the age of AI was refreshingly practical:

    • Ask AI for small, specific tasks—not vague, complex projects that might work
    • Be intentional with context windows: less noise, more signal
    • Protect uninterrupted time for developers—not every meeting on the calendar needs to happen

Simple ideas, but they hit something real: how we work with AI is still evolving, and the teams that figure it out early will have a real edge.

  9. Nerdearla, more than just three days
  10. Nerdearla Chile reinforced something we’ve believed at Howdy for a while: the value of an event isn’t just about how many people see your logo—it’s about how well you connect with the right people.

A technical talk that keeps growing in views. An interview reaching thousands. Real conversations with developers. And a community walking away with a clear sense of who we are.
